Hotline

GLAHR offers a “hotline” that provides Latino immigrants and their families, in the event that they are mistreated, abused, or detained, with information and referrals. Each week, the hotline receives anywhere from fifty to one hundred calls, allowing GLAHR to assist Latinos as they face abuse from employers, police officers, immigration agents, or in detention centers.

We encourage people to call on us Monday through Fridays from 9am to 5pm. However, please do not hesitate to leave a voice mail at any time. We promise to return calls in a timely fashion. 

When calling the hotline, please have the following information ready regarding a person being detained:

  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Country of Birth
  • Date of Entry to the United States

DACA Renewals

UPDATES ON DACA, as of 08/18/2020

For those individuals with DACA, your DACA status remains in place for the period that is shown on your work permit. If your DACA is set to expire in the next four to six months, we advise that you renew your DACA immediately. Even if your DACA has already expired, you remain eligible to renew.

As of July 28, 2020, individuals filing for DACA renewal will only be able to renew on a ONE YEAR basis. This is a change from the past which allowed individuals to have DACA for two-years. The filing fee for DACA remains that same: $495 to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. 

Further, USCIS has decided to deny all first-time DACA applications. If you had previously filed to apply for DACA for the first time, you should receive your package returned to you with the filing fee.

Plaza Communitarias

The Plazas Comunitarias are educational spaces open to the community, where people, according to their interests, can go to learn to read, write, and finish their primary and secondary school, complete their baccalaureate or take training courses for life and job. GLAHR houses one of the many Plaza Comunitarias throughout the state. It is our mission to increase the political consciousness of our community and education is key.

Radio Migrante

Radio Migrante was launched to inform, defend, and guide the Latino community, when well-beloved community radio station Radio Información closed its door. GLAHR continued the legacy of Radio Información by continuing opening the space to different opinions and engaging the Latino community to share their political opinions through various weekly programs. Radio Migrante prioritizes the participation of the Latino community and we cordially invite community members to call and share their opinions. We are live streamed on Youtube and Facebook during the programs, or you can download the TuneIn Radio app and listen to “Radio Migrante” at any time.
